The Hidden Perk: How to Support Streamers with Amazon Prime

How to Help Fellow Streamers Using Your Free Amazon Prime Sub

It’s crazy how many people pay for Amazon Prime just for the two-day shipping and Prime Video, completely missing out on one of the best perks for gamers. If you have Amazon Prime, you actually have a free monthly subscription to use on Twitch built right into your account. It takes nothing out of your pocket, but it throws direct financial support to your favorite creators.

Most folks just don't know it exists, or they think the setup is too much of a hassle. Let’s break down exactly what this perk is and how you can start using it to boost your favorite communities on Twitch.

What Exactly is a Prime Gaming Sub?

When you link your Amazon Prime account to your Twitch account, you get access to Prime Gaming. This comes with a few cool benefits, but the absolute best one is the Free Channel Subscription. This counts as a standard Tier 1 sub, meaning the streamer gets paid the exact same as if you dropped $4.99 of your own cash.

Why You Should Use It:

  • It costs you literally nothing extra.
  • It unlocks custom emotes and ad-free viewing (if the streamer has it enabled).
  • It provides real, tangible support to help creators upgrade their streams.

Step 1: Link Your Accounts

Before you can drop that free sub, you need to connect the dots between Amazon and Twitch.

  1. Log into your Amazon Prime account on a web browser.
  2. Navigate to the Prime Gaming link above.
  3. Click on Connect a Twitch Account.
  4. Log into your Twitch account when prompted and authorize the link.

Step 2: Drop Your Free Sub

Now that you're linked up, it's time to show some love to a streamer.

  1. Go to the channel of the Affiliate or Partnered streamer you want to support.
  2. Click that purple Subscribe button under the video player.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the subscription menu.
  4. Check the box that says Use Prime Sub.
  5. Click the Subscribe with Prime button.
Pro-Tip: Prime subs do not auto-renew! You have to manually go back and re-subscribe every 30 days. Set a calendar reminder on your phone so your favorite streamer doesn't lose that support!

Disclaimer: This post is for educational purposes. Make sure you are the primary account holder for your Amazon Prime account before linking. Student Prime accounts may have different limitations regarding their free monthly sub.
